From the Strength of Faith in Buddhism to the Serenity of Sampathaya Wanaram...
Originally, Sampathaya Wanaram was simply the retreat of Mr. Sirawat and Mrs. Jiratcha Thepkongkham, who sought to spend their retirement amid serene rivers and mountain forests, surrounded by coffee trees. They aimed for a simple life filled with the sound of prayers, rooted in their deep faith in Buddhism without initially planning to establish a Dhamma practice center. The couple moved into Sampathaya Wanaram on January 23, 2010.
At that time, the area was merely an ordinary forest with Miang trees and some original coffee plantations planted by villagers.
There were no modern amenities, not even water or electricity
Mr. Sirawat and Mrs. Jiratcha lived in a tent for six months as they began constructing the first pavilion. They relied on lanterns for light and bathed in the creek. Setting up temporary tents and cesspools, they gradually developed the area step by step into what it is today.
